The countdown to hear Lewis Capaldi's new music is officially on after the "Before You Go" singer confirmed his sophomore album is on the way.  Fans have been waiting about two years to hear new material from Lewis.

Speaking to the UK publication Daily Record, the singer declared, "I can't wait to get the songs out now and release my new music. It's been a long wait for everyone."

Lewis, 25, has been working on his sophomore album for about two years following his successful 2019 debut Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which produced the smash hit "Someone You Love."  The track was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

Lewis announced his follow-up album in December 2020 and a social media hiatus to focus his full attention on his new work.  It was also revealed that he is working with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder to complete the studio effort.

The Scottish singer then retreated to a farmhouse, where he has also been spending time fixing it up, as he told the outlet, "I'm getting a lot of work done to it just now. It's getting renovated, but I'm really enjoying living there."

It is currently unknown when we'll hear Lewis' sophomore album, but he hints that he has something planned for the summer.  He is set to play at Glasgow, Scotland's TRNSMT Festival in July and hints new material might drop around the same time.

After teasing it for months on TikTok, Charlie Puth has finally released his new song and video "Light Switch."

“On the songwriting level, it was really cool to share this song with the fans while I made it, so they felt like they were involved at the very beginning of the song, like they almost wrote it with me," Charlie says of the new track.

The song is the first single from Charlie's upcoming album CHARLIE, which will be his third full-length release.  In an installment of one of Vogue's "24 Hours With" series, Charlie notes that the album is his most personal yet.

"I’ve never had a chance to put out music that is truly me," he explains. "And every song on this album is my personality with some melody attached to it.”

As for the "Light Switch" music video, the Grammy nominee portrays a man who sinks into a deep funk after losing the love of his life.  He is thrust into action after an ad for Light Switch Aerobics flashes on the television and the instructor puts him through self-care boot camp.  The hilarious video sees Charlie undergoing a much-needed makeover, shedding his beer belly and reclaiming his confidence.

But there's a twist -- once Charlie is back in fighting shape and tries to win back his love, he discovers she's already fallen for someone else.

The infectious single is about being unable to walk away from someone who strings him along like a plaything.

"You turn me on like a light switch/ When you're movin' your body around and around/ You got me in a tight grip/ You know how to just make me want you, baby," he sings in the upbeat chorus.

"Light Switch" is available to stream and purchase now.

It's been over two years since The Chainsmokers put out new music and, after bowing out of social media in 2020 to give their new album their full attention, they confirmed the news fans have been dying to hear... TCS4 is done.

"It’s finally done now. Thank you for giving us time to rediscover ourselves, our music, and our love for why we do this. The truth is, we could have only made this album now. And we can’t wait to share it with you," Alex Pall and Drew Taggart wrote in a joint statement on Thursday.

The message came in a multi-part chain that saw the Grammy winners explaining why they took their time developing their fourth studio album, which they admit they "wish we could have made... four years ago."

As for why the group retreated from the public eye in 2019, they said they "felt a little bit lost" at the time.  "We decided we needed to take some time to reflect and rediscover what made us most excited about this project," they shared in a follow up tweet. "We escaped to Hawaii with some friends and gave ourselves permission to not create anything at all if we didn’t want to."

The Chainsmokers say they lasted four days before they felt the urge to make music and produced a song fans will hear "soon."  They said the track made them fall back in love with music, adding, "We hadn’t felt that way since the beginning of our career" and that they created "the backbone of this album" while in Hawaii.

They said they then spent the next two years "picking apart every song" and making "them the absolute best they could possibly be."  An announcement regarding the album's name and release date is forthcoming.

Congratulations are in order for The Weeknd, who just made Billboard history!  His new album, Dawn FM, is currently the number one album in the world even though it has yet to have a physical release.  Currently, it is only available on digital platforms.

According to a press release, Dawn FM also places 24 of The Weeknd's songs on the Global 200, which breaks the all-time record for the most songs charted by a male solo artist.  The accolades don't stop there -- the "Save Your Tears" singer has another album -- aside from Dawn FM -- charting on the Billboard 200 top 10.  His The Highlights has risen to number six while Dawn hovers in second, giving him the rare honor of having two studio efforts atop the prestigious chart.

Dawn is also making major waves in the streaming world after fans listened to it over 500 million times across Spotify, Apple Music and other services.  His "Sacrifice" track went to number one on Spotify and Apple Music notes it is currently charting in over 130 countries.

Considering this album was a surprise and The Weeknd has yet to release physical copies of his new record, it stands to go to number one on the Billboard 200 once it hits the shelf -- which would follow his 2020 effort After Hours.

Avril Lavigne said not long ago that she was planning to turn the plot of her signature song "Sk8er Boi" into a movie, and now she says it's turning out to be an all-consuming project.

Appearing on After School Radio on Apple Music Hits, Avril told Blink-182's Mark Hoppus  -- who also appears on her new album -- "I'm in the process of putting together a film right now for it. That's a lot of work, I'll tell you. Meeting with production companies...I have my story line and my idea and then assembling a team, talking and meeting with different writers. And then I get different pitches and then I talk to them."

"So I found someone right now that I'm digging. And so I think we're moving forward," Avril adds. "And then once the script's written, I'm just producing and overseeing the whole project."

Then she asks Mark, "But will you make a cameo?"

As for why the time is right for a "Sk8er Boi" movie, Avril notes that this year marks the 20th anniversary of her debut album Let Go.  As she explains, "I don't know if it's just because of how long it's been or with a resurgence, or whatever you want to call it, in the pop punk scene right now, but people are really bringing up 'Sk8er Boi' a's taken on a whole new life of its own," she adds.

Avril's new album Love Sux is due out next month, and she tells Hoppus, "My last album was very introspective and deep and this one is just rocking all the way through...I feel this is my most alternative record sonically...I just wanted to not hold back at all and, drums, just go for it."

Shawn Mendes started off 2022 telling fans "It'll Be Okay," and now, he's telling them to get ready for another round of new music.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the singer shared a video that shows him and a friend listening to a new demo.  The clip then transitions to a studio, where fans can hear the fully mastered track ahead of its scheduled release.

Shawn just had one question to ask first, which was, "Y'all dig this?"  Of course, his 66.2 million followers began begging for more and demanded to know when they can finally add it to their music libraries.  At this time, it is currently unknown when the Grammy winner's new song arrives or what he plans on calling it.

The song would mark Shawn's third new single since releasing his Wonder album, which came out in December 2020.  It follows "Summer of Love" and, most recently, "It'll Be Okay."

Shawn is gearing up for his 64-date Wonder: The World Tour, which kicks off in March and will take him across North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.  He has yet to unveil plans for his fifth studio album, but fans are hopeful an announcement is on the horizon.

Despite the hype surrounding The Weeknd's suprise release of his album Dawn FM, the project was narrowly beaten to the number-one spot on the Billboard Top 200, and had to settle for a number-two debut.

Instead, it was rapper Gunna who took the top spot with his new mixtape DS4Ever, which features Chris Brown, Roddy Ricch, Young Thug and other big names. Gunna's album sold 150,300 equivalent album units, while The Weeknd's album sold 148,000. This is Gunna's second number-one album

Dawn FM, featuring Jim Carrey, Lil Wayne, Tyler, the Creator and Quincy Jones, becomes The Weeknd's eighth top 10 album -- to date, all of his charting releases have reached the top 10.  The album won't be available on CD until January 28, while vinyl and cassette editions arrive April 29.

On January 12, a 19-track deluxe edition of Dawn FM was released with three new tracks: remixes of "Take My Breath" and "Sacrifice," plus The Weeknd's current single with Swedish House Mafia, "Moth to a Flame."

Meanwhile, The Weeknd's hits compilation The Highlights is currently at number six on the chart.
